Birmingham University, 1st Southern Military Hospital

Exterior view of the 1st Southern Military Hospital, based at Birmingham University. Plans for a war hospital in the new Birmingham University buildings were begun as early as 1909, and the hospital grew to being able to accomodate 8827 patients in 1918 (http://www.1914-1918.net/southerngen.htm). Not postmarked or stamped. Published by E T W Dennis & Sons Ltd, London and Scarborough. The reverse of the card is printed with: 'British Manufacture Throughout.'
